Week 3, Guatemala CCM

Elder Walbom had a bit of fun this week, when the missionaries at the CCM all got to go to the Guatemala Zoo and then to Wendy's on their P-day! These pics were sent in an email from one of his teachers, Hermana Rosado (his favorite teacher at the CCM!)

He mentioned on our video chat that Guatemala is called the land of eternal Spring and that there are beautiful flowers everywhere.  He also said that the missionaries were all warned to always be very careful of live electrical wires, which can be jumbled, loose messes anywhere (not buried or securely placed high on poles) and have killed people! There were some wires they had to carefully avoid on their trip to the zoo.  Now that his mission has changed to include just Guatemala City, I am not really worried about him coming down with Malaria (the elevation of the city is high enough to not really be a risk). I am, however, praying he can walk safely down the streets!

Group email:
Hey everyone! There is apparently a rule here, due to two elders a couple months ago, that we cannot connect cameras to a computer. That is a bummer because Ive finally taken some! Anyways there isnt much to tell.

<im getting better at spanish every day. Ive taught full lessons in spanish now! Today was the highlight of the whole week. They finally let us out of the CCM to go to the Guatemala City Zoo! We saw all sorts of cool animals there. Afterwards we went to an artisan market near the zoo and finally to Wendy{s! You don{t know how good tasting that food was after three weeks inside a compound with good, but repetitive, food. It was a relief.

Im glad that I get to serve the Lord for two years here. I love the land and I love the culture here and Im excited to be able to get to know the people of Guatemala City. I testify that Christ lives and that he is the only name or way back to the father and eternal life. I know that this church is his church on the Earth and revelation directs it now as it did in times of old. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Y finalmente, yo se que Dios nos ama.

Amen! Elder Walbom

p.s. I just realized that I never specified why we can{t connect cameras. The two elders accidentally transferred a virus to the computer or something from their cameras and the computers were destroyed. So no more pictures.
