Week 20, Primero de Julio - How Great Thou Art

Image
Here is the weekly email from Elder Walbom: Hey everyone. This won't be too long. This week was a good week. We found lots of people to teach. I sang. We taught more of our progressing people. Overall it was productive. Highlights of this week.  We met this crazy pair, Francisco and Aracel. He works in music and she owns a salon. They already had a book of mormon and were reading it to learn more and that was pretty cool but when we actually started trying to teach them it was crazy. They kept asking questions about black and white magic. They were asking about idol worship and commenting on the mysteries of God. We tried to teach a simple introductory lesson but honestly they dragged us down a rabbit hole and we just had to stop the lesson. At least we got in the closing prayer. We're going to try teaching them again better this week. We finally got to teach our bus contact from a few weeks ago. She wanted to come to church this past ...

Week 19, Primero de Julio -We had a baptism! (but not ours)

Elder Alex Walbom’s weekly email: So this week was pretty laid back. I'm enjoying the change of scenery (see the pics below) and my new companion. We are having a pretty tough time finding people to teach. We started talking to him this week and he started talking about how he believes that prophets should still exist just like in ancient times because God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We saw that bone and we took it. We taught a little about the Restoration of the Gospel, how prophets guide us still in these days and how God loves all his children and showed us that through Jesus Christ. Another pe...

Elder Walbom and his new brand companion, Elder Duarte. Here is Elder Alex Walbom's weekly email: So this week was interesting. I got changes after being in my second area for only 2 weeks. I am now in Primero de Julio. My new area is safer than my old area and very quaint. I am very optimistic about this new area and my awesome new companion, Elder Duarte. He is hispanic but he's from Texas and his family has lived there for generations. He knows spanish and english so this should be fun. Again I do not have pictures of my new area and I apologize. But now that I am settled in a safer area where I can actually take pictures, I will have more pictures. This past week I didn't have too many highlights but the whole mission, along with 2 others, did get to see Elder Bednar yesterday. He is so savage, awesome, funny, and above all a conduit of the spirit. He talked about lots of things but the most prominent to me was the need to listen diligently to t...
