Well This week has a couple of highlights. And I'm going to talk about them.

First We set a date for the baptism of one of our investigators! Diego finally will have enough attendances to be baptized. Kids under 15 require 12 attendances to sacrament meeting to be eligible. But we've been teaching him since we arrived in our area and he is super excited and animated! Nov. 2!

Second, Choir rehearsal was awesome again and because of that, we have one less active and her family who are returning to church! I am so grateful that I can be making a contribution to the Lord's work in this way even if it is only for a little while longer (normally missionaries are not allowed to be involved with musical groups in any way).

Third, we got to have Pepian, a traditional Guatemalan dish for the second time since I got here, and it was with duck for the first time. The family who fed us killed their really fat duck to feed us. It was good.

Fourth, we saw a lady that we were teaching and when she saw us she ran back into her house. Her son came out and told us that she had gone for a walk back into the city. He told us to come back on Feb. 30. Sometimes you just gotta know when to let them go. But I am happy to suffer the taunts of the world.

Anyways. I used my first spanish idiom! Es pan comido! It literally means ' It is eaten bread' but the meaning is actually ' this is super easy'. Spanish knowledge for the day.

So to end, I am doing better and better here. I love Jesus Christ and I am happy to get to experience even a fraction of the suffering and shame of the world that he experienced. I know that all of us are children of God and that he watched over all. I know that this church is the kingdom of God on the earth again and the stone that Daniel prophesied would fill the whole earth! This is the greatest work on the earth and I hope to contribute greatly to the Gathering of Israel in preparation for the Second Coming of our Lord. I've learned that really, the things that keep our testimony alive and that give us our testimony are simple. The invitation stands and is so simple. Read the Book of Mormon, Pray and ask God, the Eternal Father, Ruler of the Universe, if it is true. And after, Act in Faith. A lifetime of hope and happiness is only a prayer away.

This nice older lady was feeding the missionaries lunch when she suddenly grabbed one of her
chickens and started shaking it over the table with pride.  Elder Walbom said he thought
she was showing them what she would feed them next time, but that she was crazy!
(and he really didn't want the chicken shaken over his lunch)
